Venezuela continues to long for its freedom. But Nicolás Maduro remains clinging to power. The transfer of authority is underway on January 10, while the opposition leader seeks to safeguard the hope of being recognized as the electoral winner and therefore president. In Panama, Edmundo González left the electoral records that he claims prove he won the elections, not chavismo.
Now, 85.18% of the records from the presidential elections held on July 28 in Venezuela are in Panama. According to the delivery document signed by González, the electoral records confirm his victory with 67.05% of the votes, which means Nicolás Maduro obtained 30.49%.
These figures starkly contrast with those provided by Maduro’s regime. However, the official results proclaiming Maduro as the winner are those recognized by the National Electoral Council.
Through X, María Corina Machado assured the following:
«With deep emotion, we make this announcement to all Venezuelans and the world: The RECORDS of TRUTH, which express the Popular Sovereignty and the decision for change of the Venezuelans, have arrived in Panama. ALL records will rest under the custody of the Government of Panama in the vaults of its National Bank until they make their return trip to Venezuela very soon. Today, an indelible historical bond is established between the peoples of Panama and Venezuela. GLORY TO THE BRAVE PEOPLE!»
Con profunda emoción, le hacemos este anuncio a todos los venezolanos y al mundo:

Emphatically, María Corina referred to the records as «the records of truth, which express the popular sovereignty and the decision for change of the Venezuelans.»
It is worth noting that María Corina Machado could have been a presidential candidate, but the socialist regime did not allow it. Instead, Edmundo González was recognized by the Congress of Spain as the president of Venezuela.
However, in Venezuela, the regime did not recognize him.
«Those records are my true presidential tricolor band,» said González Urrutia in his speech at a ceremony in the Panamanian capital. After signing the document for the delivery of the records, he handed it to Panama’s chancellor, Javier Martínez-Acha.
Panama occupies a symbolic place. It is the last point before entering South America and just a border away from Venezuela.
Edmundo González presented the records that he claims demonstrate that he won the elections, but the regime did not allow him to win.
Chancellors, presidents, and former regional presidents support González.
One of them is former Mexican president Vicente Fox.
«In Panama, with Edmundo González, the legitimate president of Venezuela, we raise our voice against Maduro’s tyranny. Democracy is not seized; it is defended. With the support of all who believe in freedom, we will not rest until Venezuela regains its sovereignty and future. The fight for freedom is unstoppable!» he announced on social media.
Regional leaders traveled to Panama to support the Venezuelan opposition.
And González was not alone. Presidents, former presidents, and chancellors from various countries in the region traveled to Panama to support him.
One of them was former president of Mexico Vicente Fox. Through X, he said the following:
«In Panama, with Edmundo González, the legitimate president of Venezuela, we raise our voice against Maduro’s tyranny. Democracy is not seized; it is defended. After Panama, Edmundo González traveled to the Dominican Republic. After having gone to Uruguay and Argentina before. He has the backing of the majority of Spanish-speaking nations, except for Nicaragua and Cuba, which are socialist and allies of Maduro’s regime.
While María Corina Machado continues in the streets of Venezuela and has even reportedly been temporarily kidnapped by hooded men while rallying crowds against Maduro’s regime and its allies.
However, there are critics who question María Corina’s actions. It was she, as a legislator, who promoted civilian disarmament. So, how does she expect the people to resist when she allowed them to be defenseless?
Le pide a los venezolanos salir a las calles para combatir la tiranía pero no tuvo mejor idea que desarmar a su propio pueblo. Hecho, no opinión. https://t.co/y6cQgtvIaz

In her defense, voices proclaim that she promoted civilian disarmament so that chavista collectives could not attack the rest of the population. Nevertheless, history shows that tyrannies are established when there is no one to resist. And Venezuela confirms this.
