Pope Francis, 88, remains in critical but stable condition after 13 days hospitalized at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, battling bilateral pneumonia.

According to the latest statement from the Holy See Press Office this morning, the pontiff «had a quiet night and is resting,» offering a slight relief to the faithful who anxiously follow his condition.

The Pope’s health has severely deteriorated since his admission on February 14 due to bronchitis, which evolved into a polymicrobial respiratory infection and later into pneumonia in both lungs.

On Tuesday, a CT scan revealed the persistence of this condition, and although he has not suffered new acute respiratory crises, the Vatican maintains a «reserved» prognosis.

His age and medical history—including the partial removal of a lung in his youth—make him vulnerable to complications such as sepsis.

Despite his condition, Francis remains conscious and active. On Monday, he held meetings with Cardinal Pietro Parolin and approved the canonization of Venezuelan Blessed José Gregorio Hernández.

«He is lucid and well-oriented,» the Holy See assured, highlighting his spiritual strength amid adversity.

The worsening of his health has put his jubilee agenda on hold, a blow for the 32 million pilgrims expected in Rome in 2025.

Let’s hope the Pope’s friends are praying for him:
