DeSantis: «My point of view is that Donald Trump has just taken office. I want these congressmen to focus on implementing his agenda. They haven’t done much yet. They are not implementing his executive orders.
We’ll see what they do with spending. But we have such a narrow majority that trying to campaign elsewhere and missing those votes, I think, is not advisable at all.
So the reality is, you know, we have achieved victories in Florida. We need to start achieving those victories up there. So I think people see it and say, you know, you have a guy like Byron, and he simply hasn’t been part of any of the victories we’ve had here against the left in recent years. He just hasn’t been part of it.
He’s been in other states campaigning, doing that, and that’s fine. But fine, then deliver results there. You know, that’s what I want to see. I want to see them deliver results for the people of Florida. We deliver them here all the time for the people of Florida, and that’s what we need to be doing. And so, you know, I’ve said that I’m going to be, you know, fundraising. We’re going to be looking for someone who can continue and build on the success we’ve had here in Florida.
I think a lot of people believe that somehow the battle has already been won and that there’s nothing to worry about. We could reverse very quickly. That could happen 100%.
And so it really has to be, okay. Are you going to be someone who will fight for the people, especially when it’s not easy? Have you been willing to step in and engage in these big battles that we’ve had and won over all these years? And if you’re not willing to do that, then I think we’re going to see this state reverse. So I wouldn’t take anything for granted.
I know people have been—I mean, we’ve had hundreds of thousands of people moving here specifically because of the policies we have. And I think that’s something you shouldn’t take for granted. This isn’t necessarily something that runs on autopilot, and it’s just something that I think is really, really important.
So my point is, yes, we have achieved these victories. We have more to do. But you have to solidify that and then take it to the next level. And that’s really what the game is all about.»
