Fergus Hodgson and Seve Hecht explain how Trump has succeeded politically with growing Hispanic support
In a powerful exchange, conservative commentators Fergus Hodgson and Seve Hecht dismantled the mainstream liberal narrative about Hispanics and their political inclinations, revealing a trend that should not be ignored: Donald J. Trump’s growing popularity among Hispanic voters.
According to Hodgson, two key reasons explain Trump’s appeal in the Hispanic community. First, the false assumption that Latinos oppose immigration enforcement is debunked. Many legal immigrants, especially those who came through the proper channels, strongly support law and order. “It’s a liberal myth,” Hodgson noted. Hispanic families that followed the rules to enter the country legally do not want to see those rules ignored or undermined.
Second, when given economic opportunities, Hispanics shift toward conservative values. They want prosperity, upward mobility, and self-reliance. They reject high taxes, bloated welfare states, and policies that punish success. In short, they prefer opportunity over dependency.
Hecht added a critical point: Trump’s sustained approval among Hispanics is even more impressive considering the relentless smear campaign against him that began in 2015. “All Democrats offered last time was Trump-hate. Nothing else,” Hecht said. Despite ten years of demonization by the media and political elites, Trump remains strong — a testament to his leadership and the Biden administration’s failures: skyrocketing inflation, open borders, and growing social unrest.
Hecht also believes that polls undercount Trump’s Hispanic support. Many Latinos are afraid to publicly say they support Trump due to social backlash, but they quietly show their support where it counts: at the ballot box.
This shifting political landscape carries significant weight for the 2024 election. The Hispanic community is waking up politically, turning away from failed leftist promises and embracing common-sense conservatism: family, faith, work, law and order, and personal responsibility.
The media’s portrayal of Trump as anti-Hispanic simply does not hold up to reality. He champions freedom, prosperity, and order — values deeply cherished by millions of Hispanic Americans.
As Fergus and Seve emphasized, Latinos are no longer voting based on ideology — they’re voting based on results. Trump’s record — low unemployment, rising incomes, border security, and a thriving economy — resonates far more than progressive slogans.
If Republicans can communicate this message clearly and confidently, Hispanics will become a cornerstone of Trump’s 2024 victory coalition. And this time, their voice will be louder than ever before.
