Agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out an operation in which they made a detention as part of their lawful duties, when they were verbally confronted by civilians who were inside a religious facility. In videos shared on social media, some individuals can be heard telling the agents that they were “entering a place where the word of God is preached,” questioning their presence at the site.
During the exchange, the civilians raised their voices and demanded that the agents leave, while recording the moment and asking them not to use force. Despite the tension, ICE continued with the procedure, acting within its authority and without directly interrupting any religious service or engaging in unnecessary violence.
Federal authorities have reiterated that ICE has the responsibility to enforce immigration law in any location where it is legally permitted to do so, and that its work is aimed at protecting the public and maintaining order. They emphasized that enforcement of the law cannot be subject to verbal pressure or attempts at intimidation, regardless of where the operation takes place.
This underscores the need to allow law enforcement agencies to carry out their work without obstruction. From the federal government, it has been stressed that supporting ICE is essential to maintaining security, the rule of law, and national sovereignty.
