According to Leavitt, Schumer knows the initiative will fail and is using it solely as a rhetorical talking point, with no real plan to reduce health care costs.
The spokeswoman argued that the president’s administration and Republicans continue to put forward concrete solutions to a crisis that she said was created by Democrats. She also questioned why Schumer has not supported measures already in place, such as “most favored nation” agreements, which she said are already lowering drug prices for Americans.
