A man was stabbed along with his dog at a grocery store in Pierce County, Washington, in an attack that authorities say was motivated by the victim’s religion. According to testimony given to officers, the attacker asked the victim about his religion and, after he replied that he was Christian, stabbed him with a knife, also injuring the dog.
Both the victim and his dog were taken to hospitals in critical condition, and the animal had to undergo emergency surgery. The suspect fled the scene but was located hours later armed with several knives. After resisting arrest and making threatening movements toward officers, he was shot by police and later pronounced dead. The case is being investigated by the Pierce County Force Investigation Team.
