The Member of the European Parliament Peter Magyar has made Hungary’s position on illegal immigration clear, stating that the country will not accept relocation mechanisms or agreements that involve the mandatory reception of migrants.
During his remarks, Magyar said he would communicate this stance directly to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, as well as to other European leaders, emphasizing that Hungary will maintain and strengthen its southern border fence as a security measure.
The politician also distanced himself from previous decisions made by Viktor Orbán’s government, criticizing the release of more than 2,200 individuals convicted of human trafficking. In this regard, he stated that such measures would not be repeated under his approach.
He further stressed that Hungary will not transfer illegal migrants to other countries, such as Slovakia, defending a migration policy based on internal control and national responsibility.
Magyar insisted that his country does recognize and accept legal migration pathways, but firmly rejects irregular migration, which he considers a risk to the security and stability of both Hungary and Europe.
Finally, he indicated that they would explore alternatives to avoid economic sanctions related to European migration policies, reaffirming his intention to maintain a firm stance against what he views as an imposed approach to immigration.
