Saudi Arabia has officially unveiled the Neom Stadium, an innovative venue for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, located in the futuristic city of Neom. This suspended stadium, designed by the Bjarke Ingels Group, rises 350 meters above the desert and integrates into the roof of the urban project The Line. With a capacity of 46,000 spectators, it will host matches from the group stage through the quarterfinals.
The Neom Stadium stands out for its cutting-edge architecture, featuring an LED-lit roof that simulates floating glass fragments, creating a unique visual experience. Additionally, it will be fully powered by renewable energy, aligning with the sustainability goals of the Neom project. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, with an opening planned for 2032.
This stadium is part of a series of 15 proposed venues for the tournament, including other landmark projects such as the King Salman International Stadium in Riyadh and the Aramco Stadium in Al Khobar. The total investment in infrastructure for the 2034 World Cup exceeds $20 billion, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s commitment to developing its sports sector and its vision for economic diversification.
