Bessent Highlights Economic Momentum Under “Trump-Style Growth”
Scott Bessent emphasized a key sign of the industrial revival in the United States: the production of the first rare-earth magnet manufactured in the country in 25 years. The achievement took place at a plant in Sumter, South Carolina, where the operation has already created 800 construction jobs and 300 factory jobs, with the potential to expand to as many as 3,000 positions, according to the plant manager.
Bessent also pointed out that many of the new workers were former Caterpillar employees, reinforcing the positive impact on affected industrial communities. Buoyed by this momentum, he expressed optimism about economic growth through the first three quarters of the year.
According to Bessent, the most important takeaway is that the economy “is returning to Trump-style growth”: high growth and low inflation— a dynamic he noted stands in stark contrast to the Biden years.
