President Donald Trump said that relations with Venezuela are currently “doing well” and that his administration is maintaining positive cooperation with the country’s leadership. “We’re working very well with the leadership and we’ll see how it all works out,” he stated.
During a press appearance, Trump was asked whether he is considering meeting with Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodríguez. The president responded: “At some point I’ll meet. She’s been very good.”
Trump also revealed a recent energy agreement. According to him, Rodríguez requested that the United States purchase 50 million barrels of Venezuelan oil. “I said yes, we can. It’s four billion, $4.2 billion, and it’s already on its way to the United States,” he said.
The president’s remarks suggest a potential rapprochement between Washington and Caracas, with the energy sector serving as a central point of negotiation.
