Secretary Brooke Rollins announced alongside Bobby Kennedy Jr. the signing of new legislation promoted by President Donald Trump: the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, a measure that brings whole milk back to public schools in the United States for the first time in more than a decade.
Rollins praised the decision as “a big step in the right direction” to improve children’s health and said the initiative is part of the Trump administration’s commitment to “make America healthier.”
Meanwhile, Kennedy Jr. criticized nutrition policies adopted in previous years, noting that since 2012 the restriction of whole milk in schools coincided with a rise in childhood obesity and increased consumption of sugary and energy drinks. “That’s what broke American health,” he stated.
The official mentioned that new federal dietary guidelines were released in January, which will put an end to what he described as the “war on saturated fats” and will promote the return of foods considered nutritious and wholesome, such as whole milk.
Both secretaries thanked President Trump, congressional leadership, and dairy farmers for making the initiative possible, which seeks to redefine school nutrition policy in the country.
