President Donald Trump has taken decisive action by ordering 500 active-duty Marines to prepare to intervene in the unrest sweeping Los Angeles, in response to violent protests against ICE immigration raids.

Announced by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, this move complements the earlier deployment of 2,000 National Guard soldiers sent to contain the chaos that has engulfed the city for two consecutive days.

What began as “peaceful” protests has escalated into vandalism and direct assaults on federal officers, prompting a forceful response to uphold law and order.

The LAPD metropolitan detention center has become the epicenter of clashes, with protesters confronting law enforcement. Authorities have deployed tear gas and batons to disperse crowds and restore control.

President Trump’s response was swift. On his platform Truth Social, he addressed Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass, accusing them of “absolutely horrible” handling of the unrest in Los Angeles.

Trump labeled them “troublemakers and insurrectionists,” and emphasized a hard stance against protest masks: “Remember, NO MASKS!”

This statement reflects his resolve to not tolerate what he views as a threat to public order—and his readiness to intervene directly to restore peace.

White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson has been a vocal defender of President Trump’s actions. She has repeatedly endorsed the federal intervention in L.A., asserting it was necessary to protect ICE agents and restore order.

Jackson has responded on platforms including X to Governor Newsom’s criticisms, insisting that deploying troops is a lawful measure to safeguard national security.

Her stance has stirred controversy but also reinforced the official narrative of the Trump administration regarding the crisis in California.

This escalation is not only a response to an immediate crisis—it sends a VERY clear message from the Trump administration: anarchy and obstruction of immigration laws will not be tolerated, despite attempts by Democrats to target ICE agents.

Trump has once again demonstrated his determination to face challenges that threaten U.S. stability. As protests continue, the presence of Marines and the National Guard aims to restore order—and reaffirm federal authority at a critical moment for the nation.
