Argentina Shuts Down Che Guevara Museum in National Park

Argentine Government Revokes Illegal Contract That Funded Che Guevara Museum With Public Funds

Buenos Aires, Argentina – In a new move to defend public resources, Argentina’s National Parks Administration (APN) has revoked the lease it had since 2008 with the ATE union, which allowed the use of the «La Pastera» building, located in Lanín National Park, for purposes that strayed far from its original intent.

The space, originally intended to be a public cultural site and declared a historical landmark, was transformed by ATE into a museum dedicated to Ernesto «Che» Guevara, a figure known for his violent history, ties to totalitarian regimes, and authoritarian legacy that deeply harmed Latin America.

Among the activities carried out at the site were the presentation of the book “Mundo Che in Havana”, student tours, and multimedia exhibitions that glorified the life of a terrorist.

The APN’s decision reflects President Javier Milei’s clear mandate to put an end to the partisan and distorted use of state property, and is part of a broader plan to restore common sense to public administration.

“Defending the resources of all Argentines is a non-negotiable principle of President Milei’s government,” official sources said. “We will no longer tolerate state property being used to exalt figures who promoted violence and hatred under the mask of revolutionary idealism.”

The lease, in effect for over 15 years, was deemed illegal for diverting the property from its original cultural purpose and for using public funds to promote ideological propaganda.

The decision sparked predictable backlash from leftist groups, who claim «cultural censorship,» but the government has made its position clear: The State is not here to subsidize the glorification of terrorism or romanticize dictators with taxpayer money.

An Argentina on the Rise
This action is not an isolated case but part of the political shift Argentina is undergoing under the leadership of President Milei, who stands for economic freedom, cutting wasteful spending, and reclaiming historical truth from progressive narratives.

Just as President Donald Trump has led the fight against ideological indoctrination and woke culture in the United States, President Milei is spearheading a similar movement in the Southern Hemisphere — a new era of respect for institutions, traditional values, and honest history.

Because reclaiming national identity also means deciding which figures deserve to be honored — and which do not.
