Cory Booker comes to the defense of the drug-smuggling boats

Cory Booker Defends Drug Traffickers in the Name of “Presidential Oversight”

Recent statements by Democratic Senator Cory Booker have sparked outrage after he questioned operations against the speedboats used by drug traffickers to transport narcotics from Venezuela. According to Booker, the decision to destroy these vessels was an “extrajudicial measure” carried out without oversight, arguing that power “corrupts” when there is no accountability or transparency.

However, his remarks seem to ignore the real issue: these boats are not mere civilian vessels but are used by organized crime to flood the coasts with drugs that end up harming thousands of Americans. Criticizing actions aimed at stopping that flow is effectively downplaying national security and the efforts of those who risk their lives in anti-drug missions.

While Booker focuses on political control rhetoric, drug trafficking continues to advance from regimes like Nicolás Maduro’s, which uses these routes as a means of illicit financing. Instead of protecting criminals under the guise of “transparency,” political leaders should support efforts to stop the spread of transnational crime that threatens the entire hemisphere.
