Flames engulf Tehran space research center after U.S. and Israeli strikes (VIDEO)

A major fire broke out at a space research center in Tehran following a series of airstrikes carried out by United States and Israel, marking a new escalation in the conflict in the Middle East. Images circulating from the Iranian capital show large columns of smoke and flames rising from the targeted complex as emergency crews rushed to the site in an attempt to contain the blaze.

The reported target was the Iranian Space Research Institute, a facility considered strategic due to its role in technological development and, according to Israel, its links to military programs involving surveillance satellites and defense systems. The strike reportedly destroyed a large part of the installation located in the Tarasht area, west of the city, sparking a massive fire visible from several parts of Tehran.

According to Israeli military sources, the bombings were part of a broader operation targeting Iranian military infrastructure, which also included factories associated with air defense systems and other strategic sites. Israel claims that these facilities are connected to the development of technologies that could be used for surveillance, intelligence gathering, and potential attacks against targets in the region.

The strikes come amid an increasingly intense confrontation between Iran and Israel, involving both direct and indirect clashes that have included missiles, drones, and attacks on military infrastructure. In recent days, several energy and strategic facilities in Tehran have also been hit, triggering large fires and clouds of smoke that have spread across parts of the city.

Analysts warn that the destruction of strategic installations such as the space research center could have significant military and technological implications for Iran, while also increasing the risk of a broader regional escalation, as Tehran has vowed to respond to attacks on its territory. Meanwhile, the international community is closely watching the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East and its potential impact on global stability.
