Flávio Bolsonaro will seek the presidency of Brazil in 2026

Flavio Bolsonaro Emerges as the New Leader of Bolsonarism Ahead of 2026

Brazil already has a political successor for Jair Bolsonaro, who is serving a sentence of up to 27 years in prison. His eldest son, Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, will take over the leadership of the movement and is preparing to face Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who is seeking a third term in the October 2026 elections.

Flavio will attempt to attract Brazilians disillusioned with Lula’s administration, marked by rising living costs and economic deterioration. He will also seek to revive the conservative vote that supported his father and that, amid what supporters call political persecution, could once again gain strength.

The challenge will be to prove whether he can become the main figure of resistance to lulism and establish himself as a viable alternative for the discontented electorate.
