Letitia James Pleads Not Guilty to Alleged Bank Fraud
New York Attorney General Letitia James pleaded not guilty in a federal court in Norfolk, Virginia, in connection with a bank fraud charge related to the purchase of a home in 2020.
According to prosecutors, James allegedly signed a second-home agreement stating that the property would be for her personal use, which allowed her to obtain more favorable loan terms. The house was later rented to a family member instead of being occupied by her.
The attorney general and her legal team plan to file a motion to dismiss the case, which James has described as a “selective and vindictive prosecution.”
It is worth noting that Letitia James rose to prominence after campaigning on a promise to “take down Donald Trump,” a stance that many view as evidence of her political motivation.
