Speaker of the House Mike Johnson delivered a strong message outlining the Republican-led legislative work under President Donald Trump’s current administration, contrasting it with what he called the «disaster» left behind by the Biden-Harris years.
“After those four years, every area of public policy was in ruins. From Congress and the White House, we’ve been working tirelessly to reverse that damage and lay the foundation for a safer, stronger, and more prosperous country,” Johnson declared in a recorded message released Monday.
According to the Republican leader, the current Congress—aligned with the White House—has been instrumental in implementing the America First agenda, a nationalist and conservative platform that he says received a clear mandate in the 2024 election. “The American people gave President Trump a clear mission, and we have delivered,” he emphasized.
Among the key accomplishments highlighted by Johnson are:
The Republican-led Congress has approved the largest investment in border and interior enforcement ever recorded, Johnson stated. He also cited laws like the Halt Fentanyl Act and the Lake and Riley Act, aimed at combating drug trafficking and removing illegal immigrants who have committed violent crimes.
“American communities are being protected again. We are saying enough to deadly drugs and illegal immigration that has taken far too many lives,” he declared.
Johnson also emphasized that Congress has responded to the people’s demand for greater purchasing power. Measures include the “largest working- and middle-class tax cut in the history of the United States,” designed to ease the financial burden on everyday Americans.
In addition, the administration has dismantled what he called ideological regulations, such as California’s electric vehicle mandate. “It was madness and went against working families and national energy independence,” he said.
In a country plagued by deficits and inflation during the Biden era, Republicans say they have begun correcting the economic course. Johnson affirmed that more than $1.5 trillion in spending cuts have already been made, so the federal government can once again “live within its means.”
“The people asked for fiscal sanity, and we’re delivering it. We are rebuilding the foundations of common sense,” he said.
Johnson noted that, to date, 50 executive orders from Trump have already been implemented, alongside key legislation that he claims will mark a “generational transformation” in how the country is governed.
“Our goal is not only to correct the past, but to build a future of greatness for the next generations. What we are achieving is real, positive change for American families,” he concluded.
Mike Johnson’s message reflects a clear Republican strategy: to capitalize on public discontent with the previous administration while presenting the current government as reformist and restorative. The figures provided, while impressive on paper, will be judged by voters in the coming months based on tangible impacts on their safety and household finances.
