Trump Says in Davos That Greenland Is Key to U.S. National Security (VIDEO)

Davos, Switzerland. — President Donald Trump stated at the World Economic Forum that Greenland represents a central strategic interest for the national security of the United States, due to its location between North America, Russia, and China.

During his remarks, Trump described Greenland as a vast, nearly uninhabited and undefended territory in a key position within the Western Hemisphere. He noted that its current importance is far greater than in past decades and emphasized that its value lies not mainly in mineral resources, but in its geopolitical relevance and international security.

The president recalled that for nearly two centuries, U.S. presidents have sought to purchase Greenland, and asserted that today it is “much more necessary than it was at that time,” stressing that the United States has never been stronger to protect its strategic interests.
