The U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and its strike group have arrived in the Middle East, placing them within Iran’s operational range amid a context of rising tensions between Washington and Tehran. The deployment strengthens the U.S. military presence in the region and expands its strategic options in the event of a potential escalation.
According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the mission of the carrier strike group is to promote regional security and stability. The arrival of the Abraham Lincoln comes as the U.S. administration maintains a pressure campaign against Iran, without ruling out the diplomatic track, while reiterating that “all options are on the table.”
From Tehran, Iranian authorities have warned that they will respond to any aggression, while Iran-aligned regional allies have issued indirect threats, increasing the risk of an indirect or proxy confrontation in the region.
