F-18s Fly Over the Gulf of Venezuela in a Surveillance Operation

U.S. F-18 aircraft are conducting patrol flights over the Gulf of Venezuela, a strategic area located between the La Guajira Peninsula in Colombia and the Paraguaná Peninsula in Venezuela. The aircraft, equipped with advanced technology, are circling at about 26,000 feet, according to real-time data from the Flightradar24 platform.

The Super Hornets are capable of carrying out air-to-air and air-to-ground missions, as well as launching guided bombs, indicating a high-level surveillance operation in a region considered sensitive. Nearby is the Rafael Urdaneta Naval Base, the main maritime military installation in Zulia state, along with coastal and riverine surveillance units.

The area also hosts the command of the Western Integral Defense Strategic Region (REDI Occidente), which coordinates military operations in the states of Zulia, Falcón, and Lara. Radar systems also operate in Paraguaná, underscoring the military relevance of the area during this moment of heightened tension.
